synopsis

From New York Times bestselling author, J. Daniels, comes a sexy new STANDALONE novel.

Riley Tennyson has made a huge mistake.

At least, that’s what she keeps telling herself.

Showing up to her brother’s wedding pissed off and newly single, Riley seeks comfort in solitude and an open bar, until the gorgeous and irresistibly charming CJ Tully makes her a better offer—a wild night with the master of smooth-talking where nothing is off limits.

Riley does what any single woman would do, and a connection is made. One neither one of them can ignore. But when she comes home to the boyfriend she no longer thought she had, Riley buries her secret and begs CJ to do the same.

Forget about each other. It was a mistake. That’s all it was… right?

Desires are hidden. Distance is kept. Until one night CJ makes the ultimate sacrifice, and Riley can no longer avoid the man she can’t stop thinking about.

Not with him sleeping down the hall…

Review2

A SPONGE BATH. I’m supposed to give CJ Tully, gorgeous police officer with a body like Thor,a sponge bath.

As I looked back through my highlights and notes about this book I honestly thought I had highlighted more poetic and romantic quotes, but I hadn’t. I panicked for a second until I realized that my highlighted quotes were fine. They’re fine because they were perfect quotes and passages for this book.

CJ and Riley’s story was sexy, wild, and romantic but most of all (to me any way) it was hilarious.

From the moment they met at her brother’s wedding, the chemistry between CJ and Riley was explosive. (Like fireworks.)

Riley is a super sweet, free spirit that’s been caged far too long by her awful ex boyfriend. Her ex was a grade-A-toolbag and he grated on my nerves from the very first scene of the book. What kind of a jerk gives a girl grief for going to her brother’s wedding?!

Tully on the other hand is the bees knees.

He’s a true southern gentlemen and treats ladies with utmost respect. His job as a police officer seems perfect for such a knight in shining armor. He’s a true hero and also one of the hottest book boyfriends I’ve ever read!

“Why am I the only person at this table who didn’t know you were riding the Tully train?”

This is the first book I’ve read from J. Daniels’s Alabama Summer series. I was worried about reading a book from a series without reading any of the prior books but the blurb does say it can be read as a standalone.

The blurb was right and the author did a great job of explaining any backstory that we truly needed to know. I’m sure there were several cameos and snippits that readers of the entire series will get that those of us who haven’t read the series will miss, but I was able to enjoy this story regardless.

I give What I Need 4.5 out of 5 Krissy’s Stars.

I’m totally going to have to read the previous four books in this series! I’ll have to wait til’ I have time to grab myself a coconutty drink in honor of CJ and Riley and devour them all.

Xo-K💖
