KBN Rating:

A SWEET & SEXY STANDALONE CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE that will make you believe in love again, from the New York Times bestselling author of The Pact.

I first met William McAlister when I was just a teenager.

He was handsome, had a beautiful wife and was on the verge of success, having just joined my father as his business partner. Mr. McAlister was full of smooth charm, but back then he was barely a blip on my radar. Just a family friend.

Fast forward ten years: I’m 25 years old and a single mom trying to make things right for her seven-year old son. I’ve made some mistakes, grappled with my demons and now I’m back in the city of Vancouver, getting a second chance at a better life.

I’ve started by working for my father’s production company as an executive assistant. My first day on the job and I already know I could have a promising career there.

That is until I see Will McAlister for the first time in a decade.

Now recently divorced and as sophisticated as always, Will has gone from being my father’s friend and business partner to something so much more.

We’re both older, for one thing, and he just oozes this worldly confidence and stark sexuality. Combined with his tall, muscular build and sharp suits, strong jaw and bedroom eyes, Will has turned into one hell of a distraction.

A distraction I’m having a hard time staying away from, considering his office is right across from my desk and I work with him in such close proximity.

But it’s just a harmless crush, right?

It’s just an innocent fantasy of screwing him on his desk, right?

It can’t ever be more because he’s my father’s best friend, business partner, and my boss.

NOTE: This novel is a light-hearted, swoony read. It doesn’t contain any cheating but it does have ample amounts of sex and swearing

“Sometimes hope is like wearing some else’s coat. You know it can shield and protect you, just as it did them, but it still doesn’t feel right. You’re just not used to it.”

Before I Ever Met You is a heartwarming tale of two people unlucky in love who find comfort with each other even though all the odds are stacked against them.

Our hero Will is a 40 something ,film something-or-other who was dealt a seriously bad hand when it came to the end of his first marriage. If there are awards given for “most effed up way to end a marriage” his ex-wife would totally win.

When Wills business partner (and co-owner of their film company) hires his 25 year old daughter, Jackie, to be Wills assistant it’s insta-lust and the sparks fly.

Jackie has also been dealt a seriously awful hand in life and taking this job at her father’s film company is her chance at turning her life around for herself and her son.

The banter between Jackie and the other girls at the office is possibly my favorite part of this read.

Yes, the love scenes are super steamy and the romance is very sweet, but the way these girls talk about their boss together cracked me up and held the most memorable moments of this book to me.

Though the age gap between the two main characters is large it doesn’t feel like a big deal as you read the story and the fact that Jackie is hooking up with her boss seems to be the bigger issue. There are a few hot-but-suspenseful moments that take place in the office that kept me feeling anxious because I was so worried they were going to be busted.

I give Before I Ever Met You 4 out of 5 Krissy’s Stars.

Although this book is a sweet and sexy read, it fell a little flat for me. I enjoyed reading it and liked all of the characters but it didn’t leave me super wowed.

I think anyone who enjoys boss/employee romance’s will really love this story!
