Fallen Heir: A Novel (The Royals Book 4) by [Watt, Erin]

Fallen Heir

by Erin Watt

Release Date: August 28, 2017

KBN Rating:

These Royals will ruin you.

Easton Royal has it all: looks, money, intelligence. His goal in life is to have as much fun as possible. He never thinks about the consequences because he doesn’t have to.

Until Hartley Wright appears, shaking up his easy life. She’s the one girl who’s said no, despite being attracted to him. Easton can’t figure her out and that makes her all the more irresistible.

Hartley doesn’t want him. She says he needs to grow up.

She might be right.

Rivals. Rules. Regrets. For the first time in Easton’s life, wearing a Royal crown isn’t enough. He’s about to learn that the higher you start, the harder you fall.

Warning: This book has a cliffhanger. The story will be resolved in Cracked Kingdom, due out January 2018.

I’m angry with author Erin Watt right now.

Well, angry may be a little over dramatic, but I am really, really not happy that I have to wait until JANUARY to find out what happens after the major cliffhanger that Fallen Heir ends on.

Before I get into that though, let’s back up a little bit.

In case you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t heard of this series, or Erin Watt, here are a few links to my previous, spoiler free, reviews of the previous The Royals series books.

Most of the time I’m pretty loosie goosie about starting a series in the middle, but this particular series I feel really needs to be read from the beginning to truly understand how AMAZING Fallen Heir is.

But, if you aren’t interested in taking my advice and want to start with this book anyway, here are my top five reasons why you NEED to read Fallen Heir.

#5: It’s filled with sitting-on-the-edge-of-your-seat DRAMA.

Teenage love stories usually do include a good amount of angsty drama, but Fallen Heir truly takes the cake.

Fallen Heir contains a great deal of suspense, heartbreak, hostility, and good ol’ teen angst and I loved every bit of it.

#4: The gang’s all here.

Although you only see them in short cameo scenes, all of our favorite Paper Princess characters return in this book. Easton completely carries this story but I still loved seeing my favorite Royals pop in here and there.

#3: Things are not always as they seem.

One of my favorite things about Fallen Heir is it’s jaw-dropping twists and turns. I should have been used the them by now from the previous Royals books, but just when I thought I had things totally figured out, the story twisted again and I was left completely shocked and speechless.

I mean, not completely speechless, or else it would be highly difficult to write this review, but you catch my drift. Haha!

#2: It’s tragically romantic.

Easton Royal has met his match with Hartley Wright. Both of these characters have been through so much in their short lives that they totally deserve to have some happiness come their way. I found myself wanting to give both of them a hug several times through this book and rooting for their HEA.

(Which I still don’t know if they’ll get or not. You know, because of the GIANT CLIFFHANGER they leave us with!!!! lol)

#1: Easton Royal. Nuff said.

Easton Royal is the bees knees. He’s dreamy and witty. A little bit broody, but super charming and hilarious all wrapped up into one irresistible book boyfriend package. I never knew what was going to come out of his mouth and he held my complete attention throughout this read.

So those are my top five reason why this book rocks my socks.

I give Fallen Heir 5 out of 5 Krissy’s Stars.

Although I’m still not over that INSANE cliffhanger, I do totally recommend reading this book ASAP! 😉
