Amalie Whitfield is the picture of a blushing bride during her wedding reception–but for all the wrong reasons. Instead of proclaiming his undying love, her husband can be heard, by Amalie and their guests, getting off with someone else. She has every reason to freak out, and in a moment of insanity, she throws herself at the first hot-blooded male she sees. But he’s not interested in becoming her revenge screw.
Mortified and desperate to escape the post-wedding drama, Amalie decides to go on her honeymoon alone, only to find the man who rejected her also heading to the same tiny island for work. But this time he isn’t holding back. She should know better than to sleep with someone she knows, but she can’t seem to resist him.
They might agree that what happens on the island should stay on the island, but neither one can deny that their attraction is more than just physical.
Filled with hilariously scandalous situations and enough sexual chemistry to power an airplane from New York City to the South Pacific, Hooking Up is the next standalone, laugh-out-loud romantic comedy from Helena Hunting, the New York Times bestselling author of the Pucked series and Shacking Up.
I feel like the foulest version of Cinderella ever.
Hooking Up is a HOT & hilarious read that’s the perfect sequel to Shacking Up in my opinion.
This is not a new release. I was generously given an advanced copy of this book in November of last year and am still trying to catch up on the reviews I still owe you. I’m in a pretty bad reading slump but I’m trying to get to my seriously overdue reviews so please bear with me. I promise they’re coming!
The opening scene sets the tone for this book and lets you know that this is going to be a wild ride. Amalie handles her new husbands infidelity in one of the funniest scenes of the book. My heart did hurt for her but the way this scene plays out is pure rom-com gold.
Much like Shacking Up, Hooking up has a great mix of steamy hot romance and side splitting comedy. The love scenes contain just the right amount of naughtiness for my liking without being over the top. I’m not saying that I didn’t blush a time or two while reading though.
The story itself was really well written. I enjoyed reading it but I can’t honestly say that I loved Amalie and Lexington as much as I LOVED Ruby and Banecroft. The continuation of the Shacking Up story line in Hooking Up was exactly what I had hoped it would be so I’m honestly not sure why I just couldn’t make myself fall as madly in love with Amie and Lex.
I give Hooking Up 4 out of 5 KBN Stars!
This is a really great read and I do totally suggest reading it. I think the author gives you just enough information from the previous book that you aren’t going to feel like you’re missing anything if you decide to read this as a standalone.
*I was generously given an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
